Are you living your life on purpose?

If you are, you will no doubt be having a ball. Congratulations. What does   it mean to be living your life on purpose?  Pretty much what it suggests – that you are being the chief architect of your life, designing it as you intend opposed to just letting life happen and you reacting to it.

It means  knowing precisely what you want your life to be like and having an action plan to help you get there. A core part of such a plan will be your goals. These are statements about you and what you want to achieve.

To have any chance of achieving your goals they will need to be aligned with your passions in life. Do you know what these are? Try this little exercise: Close your eyes and picture your ideal life. What are you doing? Who are you with? Where are you? How do you feel? If you felt excited, exhilarated and totally content then you probably have a good idea of what your passions are all about. Now you simply need to find a way to honor those.

I want  you to know that you will only experience true joy and happiness when you are living your life on purpose according to your passions. The great news is that we can all have this if we will just allow ourselves to have it.

Many people say they don’t know what their passions are and while this may be true for some, for most others, their passions lie ouitside their comfort zone. Saying they don’t know what they are is merely an expression of their fear to go there. If that’s you I want to encourage you to challenge yourself to take that step. Just imagine what you would be capable of if you gave yourself  a chance.

For those who still feel awkward about identifying their passions there is help at hand in the form of a fantastic little book called ‘The Passion Test”. It’s been around for a while and provides a simple and effective way to discover your passions.

Amongst other things you’ll find out how to clarify your top passions, stay on track with your passions, overcome the inevitable challenges and attract everything you’d like to have in your life.

How do you care about others?

I just wanted to share this inspiring video with you. It was made to celebrate Earth Day. The fact that so many of our natural resources are under immense threat in the name of progress means we have to remind ourselves to care for these by making and watching videos like this. The little girl who narrates the video so beautifully also reminds us that we too are part of this planet and we need to care for each other. How do you do that?

Two Article Marketing Tips

Not everybody is a writer or likes writing but if you do, article marketing is a fantastic way to generate free leads. It takes a bit of time to take off and you need to be putting new articles out there regularly, a bit like blogging.

As with all things there is a learning curve to experience so don’t wait till you think you know everything just start and learn as you go. I had written about 20 articles before I noticed that although I had a lot of article reads, my link click through rate was not fantastic. I wanted this to be better. After all as much as I love writing, the way I make money is ultimately if prospects are directed to one of my income streams in some way.

I realized where my mistake lay. When you write an article, you have a resource box at the bottom of your article; this is where you put your information and links so that readers can find out more about whatever your article relates to. The problem was mine was too long and also I was separating the resource box from the rest of my article which probably meant a fair number of readers never even saw the resource box!

What’s so great about Internet marketing is that more than likely someone else is doing whatever you want to be doing better than you are and is willing to share their knowledge. Jeff Herring is such an expert. When you want to know how to truly be successful at article marketing, he is one such ‘go to’ person.

I learned the following two tips from Jeff regarding resource boxes and want to share them with you too: Make your article flows into your resource box. You do this by not having a definite conclusion at the end of your article and by not ending the article with your name and copyright symbol. All this does is tell the reader the article is finished and so many people don’t read further. It’s not that they mean not to read further, just that the Internet is geared to fast reading and unless you do what you can to maximize the reader’s attention, there is always something else to divert them. Rather lead into your resource box as if it is the last paragraph. You can add your name and any secondary links after you have provided the link you want them to click on. This brings me to the send of his tips; don’t forget to provide an active link where the reader can get more information. Ideally you want them to opt in for more information as this way you are building your list and once you have their details you can market to them for the rest of time.

Just applying the above tips has made all the difference to my click through rates. If you want to see what I mean, have a look at the following article of mine and take note of how I have structured the resource box.

Review – Twitter FriendAdder

If you are not yet marketing on Twitter you are seriously missing out on the fastest growing social media site in the world.  This post is not about Twitter however but about a product that will be invaluable in helping you to add followers to your account. This is absolutely vital to maximize the marketing benefits of Twitter

There are 5 things I especially like about Twitter FriendAdder:

  1. It is very easy to install, set up and use.
  2. There is a support forum to help you with any questions you may have  and which includes some help documents which can be downloaded.
  3. Twitter FriendAdder allows you to drive targeted traffic back to your twitter page through its highly targeted follow function.
  4. The program adds and removes followers not following you quickly and easily. Also you can specify how many followers you want added or removed. This is important as you never want to exceed about 100 in any short period of time. If you do, it can lead to your account being shut down.
  5. It will save you time as it goes to work in the background while you busy yourself with other marketing activities.

If you are serious about creating a powerful web 2.0 presence then you must use Twitter and you must collect followers fast.

I use Twitter FriendAdder to do this and highly recommend you do too.

Anybody who tells you they never feel frustrated with aspects of their network marketing business is talking hogwash. Things don’t always go our way. This is just a fact of life. Rather than react to frustrations which often leads to negative behavior we must rather try to respond to the feelings and emotions that arise out these frustrations in the best way possible. This is an example of what is meant by having the right business mindset.

For example, today I decided to make a video for a new capture page I want to publish. When I got to the camera, I realized I had forgotten to recharge it which meant that I was not be able to do what I had planned for a number of hours. I experienced great frustration with the situation. In fact I felt anger, a need to blame someone and sudden and extreme agitation with everything.

At this point I was faced with a number of options: I could take my frustration out on someone else, ‘beat myself up’ for not recharging the camera or deal with the situation calmly and logically. Fortunately this time I was able to use some tools and techniques I have learned about to control my frustration.

The first thing I did was take in a few deep breaths which cleared my mind and my body. As I breathed out I could feel the tension start to leave me physically. This was enough time for me to interrupt any possible inappropriate expressions of my feelings which could so easily have hurt someone else or myself.

Sometimes when the negative feelings hang around, you may need to take more time. You might want to take a brisk walk for 10 min or listen to a soothing piece of music.  During this extra time-out, one has the space to contemplate one’s own role in the situation. When and only when you know that you are feeling calmer then you can express how you feel in healthier ways. This may require talking to someone else but it could also just be an act of self expression. You could say it out loud, write it down or simply think it.  Whichever way you choose, you would be acknowledging that what has happened cannot be changed. You did the best you could under the circumstances otherwise you would have done things differently.  You forgive yourself and maybe next time you will be able to do something in another way to prevent the same thing from happening again.

Now you are ready to continue with your day rather than have upset others and yourself for no reason.
