Facebook marketing is regarded by many as one the best network marketing strategies to use to create a successful Internet marketing business.
That is if you understand that the potential for networking extends far beyond recruiting for your home business network marketing opportunity.
To be honest the reason why it’s such a gold mine is because the vast majority of network marketing entrepreneurs don’t have a clue about how to maximize its potential which means those of us who do are at a distinct advantage.
The fact of the matter is that there are a whole lot more reasons for building relationships on Facebook that have nothing to do with business opportunities.
I’m sure like me you have had countless “must get involved, time sensitive, opportunity of the century” type pitches come your way.
Some ‘vomit’ these on you the moment you connect with them as “friends”.
Others take the time to ask questions first but often these are questions they don’t really want to know the answers to or worse still, had they bothered to check your profile in the first place there would have been no need to ask the questions anyway.
My friend and fellow marketer, Twila Jacobs created a great video post about this recently which is well worth taking a look at.
Then there are the exceptions….
…those people who understand the value in creating genuine relationships with the goal of getting to know each other unconditionally.
The masses who ‘drop you’ the moment you tell them you don’t need their opportunity miss out on the following.
6 other reasons why it’s worthwhile growing relationships on Facebook:
- To have the opportunity to help others just for the sake of helping them.
- To practice relationship building which is the foundational skill required for success in network marketing.
- To practice being a leader, and thereby increasing your visibility and credibility as an expert in your niche.
- To mastermind with other professionals in the industry.
- To research your niche. Facebook users give up mass amounts of information about themselves. You can research your niche demographics easily, also finding out about the problems others are having which you can then use in your own marketing.
- Being positioned to work with others in joint ventures down the line.
>>>> Can you think of any other reasons why building relationships on Facebook is important to you? I’d love to hear what you have to say on this topic so please leave me a comment.
It would be awesome if you could “Bookmark & Share” share this post. for me. Be assured that I will do the same for you. This is an industry where those who help each other benefit the most. Thank you.
My goal? Helping you achieve yours.

Hey Marcus, Great post again. I love working with people on how to use Facebook to market any business and really enjoy it. I would love to learn from you if you use Linked In as well and what results you have with that.
Check out my latest training, too, http://bizinabox.biz. It is free and is packed with great content on using FB to market!

Hi Marcus,
That’s funny you mention the ones that drop you as soon as they find out you’re not interested in their opportunity. That happens so often.
Those are all great reasons to connect and I typed out more but my comment looked more like a blog post so cut it out and I may just have to make a post out of it.
Awesome topic!

Hey Marcus,
What I love about FaceBook is the fact that I can network with other individuals. I’ve had folks help me out with certain things and built a great relationship from it. They now what I do but I don’t go forcing myself onto them.

I like these ideas Marcus. #1 sums it all up. Helping someone for the sake of helping them prospers you like nothing else. It’s easy to get tied to a certain outcome – making a business connection – and forget why we’re here. Use your talents to help others and you prosper! Most people have more talents than mere business skills. I can chat about cash gifting, the law of attraction, basketball, fitness, modeling….heck, even if people want to talk weather I am down, I have a college degree in Meteorology

Hi Marcus,
Excellent points!
Another reason to connect with people on Facebook that have nothing to do with your business (besides the ones you mentioned above) would be …
You NEVER know whom those people might know. They could connect you with someone that would sky-rocket your business down the road.
So, be friendly; connect with people you have something in common with … and GIVE value to them ….and then GIVE some more.
Have an awesome day!

Hi Marcus,
this is a great post, thanks for sharing. I think like in every other area of life, there is a learning curve involved. Who is the natural born internet marketer ? I think most of us started at a certain level of experience (myself at zero) and did some things right, others wrong. The decisive question is: Is someone willing to learn from his or her mistakes or not ? Have a great weekend

Great write up Marcus! I Loved your remark “Some ‘vomit’ these on you the moment you connect with them as “friends”.” So this so sadly true. There are MANY that this can help, and I’m sure going to share it with them!

[...] 6 Reasons to Connect With People On Facebook That Have Nothing To Do With Your Business Opportunity … [...]
The reason I am here, is that you are featured on the tribe page of a FBfriend for the best commenst given there. I want to start an internetbusiness, but don’t know what to offer or to sell, my niche one calls it, isn’t it?
But the reason I am on Facebook is to connect with people to have friends, “just” friends and there are very nice people there to meet.
Being on Facebook I see what it offers as opportunities, not only for business, but also for personal use or as a customer.
I am also on Twitter, MySpace and LinkedIn. They have several different possibilities, but the main reason to be there is connection with people from all over the world. That is an undescribable pleasure and fun.

If you focus on the relationship and how you can add to the relationship rather than what you can get you always ends up winning.
