Call Your Home Business Leads, Call Them Now and Here’s Why

  • Sharebar
  • class="st_sharethis" displayText="Share">

Yesterday my post title which blatantly stated true attraction marketers don’t  need  to call their home business leads was used quite intentionally. I knew it would mainly attract two types of readers:

Those that were breathing a sigh of relief that someone was presumably telling them they didn’t need to call their home business leads and the leaders who would have been enraged that such a notion was even remotely possible if you wanted to be successful in home business network marketing.

While I knew the post would spark a response, I also knew that it would be the second group that would be most vocal in their comment leaving,  meaning there wasn’t ever really going to be a debate. Why? Because I believe those who are not calling their leads know deep down that this is what they must do.

Man I just loved the passion that came storming through and here’s why.

It does not not matter if somebody says something works or not. What matters is learning to do what those who are already being successful are doing.

This is what top leaders do with their home business leads:

By leaders I’m talking about the cream of the crop. Take Ty Tribble for instance.  For those of you who don’t know, he is the king when it comes to network marketing bloggers. So does he earn his six figure  income from not calling leads? Here’s part of what he had to say:

“”To me, it’s all about the relationship. I can’t tell you how many times I have surprised a potential business partner with a phone call, sometimes within minutes of them leaving the number. In today’s world, you have to distinguish yourself and for the most part, an autoresponder is NOT gonna cut it.

Here are my rules:

- If I have the phone number, I call it. Now.
– If they are within driving distance, I buy them coffee and we meet face to face.”

Clear enough?  If you want to read some more about what Ty had to say you’ll have to go back to yesterday’s post comments. I highly recommend you do and that you visit Ty’s blog so you can learn from the best. You’ll also be able to read all the other comments. Here’s a small sample.

What some of the many other successful network marketers had to say about calling home business leads:

‘Most of the reason people leave their number on my site is simply because they’ve already learned enough from me, and are ready to talk with me.’ – Jordan Schultz

The largest number of people that I have recruited into my business were ones that I called, and were actually surprised and happy that I did.’ – Vicki Berry

“If a prospect leaves me a phone number that is because they are expecting me to call them. When I do call them, typically what they say is…”OH! I didn’t think you were going to call me.” – Josh Garcia

Thanks to everybody who contributed to the discussion. To those who have written to me concerned about the feelings of my mate who started me off on this, let me put your minds at rest. I wrote yesterday’s post with his permission as long as he could remain unnamed. I have a feeling he was concerned about having well meaning network marketers arrive at his sites with baseball bats in hand. :)

Also our conversation naturally extended beyond what I revealed in my first post and I’m happy to say I helped him to understand what attraction marketing is all about and that pure affiliate marketers and network marketers approach their businesses differently.

As usual I’d love you to leave me a comment and also to share this post with your followers on your social networks. Thank you.

My goal? Helping you achieve yours.

  1. Hi Marcus,

Nicely done. It’s vitally important that you connect with your prospects. If they leave you their phone number then you must call. You’re not going to sign up anyone by not calling them.

It doesn’t work that way. Technology will never replace that either.

    Have a great day.

This says it all. Dont try reinventing the wheel. Do what the best are doing. Period.

Marcus, this is wonderful as usual. Keep it up. I want more of this.

Always lovely to have you visit my friend. I heard something recently about re-inventing the wheel and it has stuck in my head, hopefully forever. “Don’t re-invent the wheel just make it bigger.”

Oh man…you hit on the head again. Its funny how individuals still believe that they can hide behind their computer all day and not talk to people. Great Post.

Too right Anthony. There is no substitute for connecting with people away from the computer. This is what made network marketing what it is when there was no online way to do it.

  6. It’s a no-brainer Marcus. If you don’t call them someone else will. To think your’s is the only autoresponder they have opted into is absurd. It’s a test…who’s going to pass? The one that picks up the phone!

  8. Hi Marcus,

You get a big ;) for the 2nd paragraph.

In terms of a network marketing business once a prospect leaves a number they’ve given you permission to call them. Any hesitation to do so on your part is a fear which needs to be released if you are to be a successful network marketer.

I was reading scripture today and when I came across the story of Jesus reaching out to select his disciples by the lake I thought of your post and made a connection: Hey, even Jesus had to so some recruiting. Not everybody came running to him ;)

I agree with you, it was an emotionally-charged post and commenting follow-up……great stuff!

Awesome that the opportunity has also led to some personal gains for you. Honestly if you can call people with the challenge you have had then that should be an inspiration to the the rest of us to do it, because we can.

  10. Marcus, great debate my friend. It is essential to actually build a relationship with your prospects. Whether that may be on the phone, via IM, etc etc etc. The relationship building is most important to any aspect of growing your business. Face to face and actually talk to someone on the phone is the most intimate, however I would say it is not the only successful way of doing so.

Great stuff and always keep us thinking my friend.

  11. Hi Marcus,

It kind of makes me laugh when I think about this. I had a prospect, he is in the Middle East and I called him. He was so shocked that
I called him from the US. He was busy and asked for me to call him
    today.

I like what Ty says about local leads. Taking the initiative to meet in person is so powerful. We already know that Ty is a leader and the proof is in the pudding.

Making connections is good strategy in marketing, I also agree with Twilla,If some leaves their contact number you should call or the other’s will.
