Some of the best MLM blogging tips I have picked up have been from reading blogs that don’t necessarily have anything to do with a network marketing Internet business so I can highly recommend that you extend your reading beyond just bloggers in your niche.
I was reading Blair William’s blog today. You may remember he is the developer of that nifty little WordPress plugin called Pretty Link. If you missed my review about this then be sure to read my post titled, Can Pretty Link Help You With Sitting Pretty?
I want to share with you what he has to say on the topic of how to make money using your blog as well as express what I think is often overlooked as the best way to do this especially as network marketers
In 4 Bulletproof Strategies for making Money On Your Blog, Blair lists the following strategies:
* Advertise as an affiliate – I am sure that most of you will have established a few relevant affiliate associations and that you are promoting products and services as an affiliate marketer in some way on your blog. If not then this is an area for your attention.
** Sell Ad space on your site – As long as you are getting sufficient traffic to your site then this may be worth your while. If so I suggest you read Blair’s post in full as he suggests a great plug in that can help you manage this.
*** Sell your own products - As long as you have done your research and have come up with a great product, you probably stand to make a lot of money this way. If not keep it in your entrepreneurial sights for later.
**** Create and manage a membership site - Now this is the one that got my attention. I have known about membership sites and belong to a few myself but have never given the idea much thought until reading what Blair had to say about WordPress being the ultimate platform for this type of site. I strongly recommend you read his actual post as he provides some awesome practical information in this regard. Even if you are not quite ready to launch a membership site just yet, you may want to take a few minutes to do some research to help you with this in the future.
In addition I believe one of the most effective ways to make money from your blog is not technically from your blog at all. It is to start off with though.
I’m referring to getting people on your list. When you do, you have the ability to develop a far deeper relationship with your followers using an additional channel to provide even more value to them. As you develop this relationship further you increase the chance of people buying from you.
Of course I am referring to attraction marketing here and your blog plays an essential role in the process. The way your blog assists with this is by providing the gateway to your list. This gateway will be attractive when you provide ongoing value with your blog posts and when you let your readers know that there is a way to get even more value by joining your list.
The ideal way to demonstrate this is to have an offer that over delivers on value and is free for the taking. Once people take you up on your offer and join your list as a result, now it’s up to you to nurture the relationship further by making personal contact if appropriate and of course using email marketing.
A lot of people don’t make the most of connecting with their lists because they run out of value to provide to them. This is when being a member of a marketing system site like MyLeadSystemPro is so worthwhile. This way you will never run out of value to offer as the system simply hands it to you on an ongoing basis in the form of webinars, recordings and other trainings that you can pass on to your followers.
I would love to hear what you have found to be the best ways to make money on your blog and if you have had some experience with membership sites, whether you have any additional tips to offer.
My goal? Helping you achieve yours.
PS: If you derived value from and enjoyed reading this post, please share it with your followers on your social networks. Thank you.

Hey Marcus
Get points here and thank you for recommending Blair to us.
Another great way to make money form your blog is to use your blog to build your list then do valuable webinars where you can sell a product / products. Make the offer on the webinar a “special” offer to only people on the webinar with a short deadline. You are bound to cash-in.

Hi Steve,
I too am amazed the the scope of plugins one can find. While many are very tempting to try one does have to tread with caution as some conflict with each other.

Hi Peter,
Sometimes I think bloggers forget this and just try to make money on the front end of their blogs. Thanks for your comment Pete.

Hi Maria,
There are a few different types of memberships sites but yes Ning sites are often used in this way. I will certainly pass on any more information I come across Maria. Thanks for your comment.

Hey Marcus,
I read more blogs outside of this industry because you can get a lot more information and tips. I like how you shared this information with us. I use the first two on your list with other blogs that I own. I’m in the middle of a product creation so I can launch.
I have been doing a lot of research on membership sites and WordPress is a perfect platform for it because of the content management platform. Thanks for putting this together.
Chat with you later…

Hi Marcus,
This is an excellent post. Discussing the monetization of a blog tends to get pushed to the side because we are so focused on creating value. Hey, we deserve value to
As for membership sites I hadn’t considered but after reading your insight I will. I currently am engaged in a few affiliate opportunities and am looking to expand.

You are right, we do deserve value too. I like that!
There are many options available to us. It’s great to have such an abundance of opportunities we can tap into.

Or become an affiliate for a membership site and avoid the hustle of creating your own:).
Of course, it’s hard to make any money without the traffic. I think that’s the biggest hurdle for blog owners – lack of traffic.
Then comes poor conversion techniques, then bombarding your list with useless emails… Oops, did I get off topic?:)
Great suggestions, Marcus!

You are right, it’s a delicate balance to find the formula that works but it is as you say all rather useless without enough traffic.

Hi Marcus,
Great value! Thanks for sharing it! I’ve got to check out Blair Williams’ blog.
I agree with Peter, the main purpose of our blog should be to build our list. Then build a relationship with that list, and provide valuable content to our list. Hmmm, now where have I heard that before?
Have a great weekend, Marcus!
