If you’re one of my regular readers then you may have noticed that there have been a few less blog posts from me this week. The reason why is that I am working on an information product of my own so I have had to prioritize my time a little differently.
In fact it’s likely that for the next little while I’ll be sticking to writing three personal posts a week so that I cant attend to a few other areas of my business including the product I’m creating. I may of course include more posts but these will written by other bloggers. I am sure you will them valuable too.
In this MLM Tips post I want to tell you a little about my own personal journey as it relates to product creation. Hopefully it will encourage you to develop your own product as soon as you possibly can.
You see I have had to battle with some inaccurate personal beliefs about product creation and naturally these have impacted on my ability to take action.
If you’re not producing in any area of your network marketing Internet business then I encourage you to take the time to find out what beliefs you have installed that might be derailing your success. Once you have identified beliefs that are not serving you, you can change them, which is exactly what I did.
Myth #1 – You Have To Be a Jonathan Budd or Mike Dillard Before you can Create Information Products
When I first started learning about the network marketing Internet business I somehow got it into my head that creating one’s own product was something that happened much further down the line, when one was a “confirmed expert” of some kind.
You might be thinking….. well that’s a load of old BS. If so, well done, you’re completely right. Remember however that whatever one believes regardless of its accuracy will be true for one.
So even though people around me who were not yet “Mike Dillards”, were creating products, this was not enough in and of itself to change what I believed. I had to work with destroying this personal belief and install a new mindset before I could act differently.
If you subscribe to attraction marketing, then you are concerned with creating value in whatever way you can – articles, blog posts, videos etc.
There is no difference between these and a product. The product is often just an accumulation of what you have been releasing in smaller pieces anyway.
You start to become an expert as soon as you start learning about something and the moment you have learned a sufficient amount about that subject, then my advice to you is to package it and brand it to yourself as a product. Whether you sell it or give it away will depend on you and your objectives. This could be an E-book, bootcamp or similar.
You have enormous value to share. You are already a somebody so just create the product and share it.
Myth #2 – If Somebody else has Released a Similar Product to Yours Before you Then There’s no Point in Continuing
WRONG again! However this is another belief that stopped me in my tracks a few times until I also got rid of it. I would be half way through creating a product when someone else would come out with something very similar so I would abandon the project all together.
Here’s why this is an insane belief. Imagine if a doctor in your city heard that another doctor down the street was treating sore throats so she decided she was no longer going to treat sore throats. Would this make sense? Of course not. While they may treat the condition using very similar therapies, each doctor is a unique human being and would bring a different dimension to the treatment because of this fact.
There is more than enough room for everybody to be creating products about the same content because nobody will present it in quite the same way as you do. People will be interested in your products because of YOU!
There are many, many people out there looking for information. You need a minuscule fraction of these to want learn from you. All you must do is find the best way of reaching these people so they can find out about you. Then as they get to like and trust you, they will want to learn more from YOU because they resonate with who you are, not just because of what you have to offer them.
So create your own products believing that there are people out there waiting for YOUR creation despite what else is available.
Do you have any other tips regarding product creation to share with us? Please leave your comment below and I would also be very happy if you would share this post with your followers. Thank you.
My goal? Helping you achieve yours.

Marcus, these are astute observations in regards to limiting beliefs. The doctor analogy is fitting.
The ego will look for whatever excuse it can find to prevent your growth sometimes. I wish you the best with your product and am convinced that it will be a success.

Thanks Ryan. Yes the ego does not give up very easily. In fact the more one starts to tame it, the more fired up and devious it becomes!

Hey Marcus,
I see where you’re coming from. We all have these false beliefs which can hinder you from becoming successful, especially if you want to change pace. I commend you for starting your own product line!! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Susanna,
Thanks for your support!
Whatever happens it will be a learning experience and we have to have these to move on. My weekend was great and I hope yours was too.

Hi Marcus,
Great point! And I absolutely agree with your “doctor example.” For instance I have bought the same kind of product from different people before. Everyone is unique and puts their own “twist” into a product. Maybe yours will be easier to understand and apply than somebody elses. Or maybe you will cover specific information in more detail than the other person. So by all means go for it!

This post really helped me Marcus,
I was stuck on myth number 2 as well. I was having trouble trying to figure out what type of product I was going to put together because it seemed like everyone else had already used my ideas, but you’re right, there’s room for everyone and no one can do it like I can.
Man, I really needed to read this. Thanks Marcus, excellent post.

Hey Marcus
I was just about to complain that you were not posting as often, but now I know why
If anyone asked me I would tell them create your own product. Just do it. It is how you stand out from the crowd. I know it can be easier to plug people into someone else’s system but you will truly brand yourself when you start creating your own.
I look forward to seeeing what you come up with.

Hi Marcus!
There are many valid points mentioned above! We have to retrain our minds if we have the mindset you previously had. Glad you were able to get rid of it.
We all have our own special way of relating to people so it doesn’t matter if a similar product is already out there. Like Ilka said, it may be easier to understand or you may cover something someone else didn’t.
Can’t wait to see what you are working on. I’m positive it will be of excellent value!
Have an awesome day!

It all starts with realizing what is holding us back and then we can get rid of it. Thanks so much for the support. Really appreciate it.

Hi Marcus,
Your 2nd myth is seen a lot where people say, “So and so has already done this, why should I do.”
What I’ve told these people is, “That doesn’t matter and besides they haven’t heard your point of view.” This is especially interesting because it could be their point of view that resonates with their audience.
Joe Vitale taught me this and I’m so grateful I learned this.
Have a great day,

P.S. Looking forward to the information product.

Marcus you are the man for this post!
I was a little on the fence about product creation, but I have came to grips with the fact that more new unique products are needed anyway, and if we apply attraction marketing there is no competition to what we do so our products won’t be perceived as a knock off Mike Dillard or Daegan Smith. This was a great post to get the juices going. Thank you

Hey Marcus,
What you just went over is what stops individuals from truly achieving what they were destine for.
I’m excited that you are not allowing any of them stopping you from creating a product. You are going to learn so much from this process. I’m in the same process and I’m learning so much. When is your launch date?
Chat with you later…

Thanks Josh. It is quite exciting and like you say another learning experience. It was a much bigger product at one point but I found that was in itself a barrier so now I am keeping it very simple which allows for more products to follow. I am looking at another few weeks. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with to my friend. I am sure it will be excellent.
