Does Attraction Marketing Work For Everyone? – The Truth Revealed

  • Sharebar
  • class="st_sharethis" displayText="Share">

Attraction Marketing for network marketers is often described as the process whereby, as you learn to become an expert promoting your network marketing Internet business, so you share this expertise  as content with others who need it.

In so doing you attract people to you who value what you have to offer and who hopefully form a relationship with you, ideally leading to further business of some kind.

Let’s face it, with a little bit of effort, anybody can do this.  All you have to do is learn something you didn’t know and share it on your blog, write an article  or create a video. More and more people are doing this every day. Why then are so many who use attraction marketing still not successful?

Is it possible that attraction marketing does not work for everybody?

I believe many truly don’t understand that attraction does not come merely from sharing content but more from WHO WE ARE are as the sharers of this content. Half of the equation is in place, the easy part.  So what’s missing and is it missed because we have not given it the time it requires, because it can’t be achieved at all or because we are not willing to do what it takes to get there?

I’m not sure who first coined the phrase, “Attraction Marketing”  but for me it’s synonymous with the likes of  Mike Dillard who penned Magnetic Sponsoring and Anne Sieg who authored The Renegade Network Marketer. If you’ve not read either of these two authoritative works on the subject then this would be an ideal place for you to begin.

I believe the principle that underlies the route to becoming attractive is not new. It’s probably existed since time began. It’s also at the core of what Mike Dillard and Ann Sieg write about – LEADERSHIP.  The fact that you share content does not make you a leader, it’s a vehicle to help you express your leadership but it does not make you a leader.

Nor do the qualities often ascribed to leaders, like intelligence, flexibility, extroversion, conscientiousness, openness to experience and general efficacy make a leader. Rather these can often be used to describe one who is already a leader. I don’t believe if you develop these qualities or any others for this matter that you will necessarily become  a leader.

Why do some kids display natural leadership at a school going age? Why do some people more easily become the captains of the sports teams? Why are others effortlessly more popular at parties? Because they have a natural tendency to be attractive to others. But why?

Is it possible that their presence and energy apart from any actions they take, is responsible?

I believe leadership is something you give yourself  when you experience positive self worth at the deepest cellular and soul level possible.  When you do, there is absolutely no doubt in your mind that you  are inherently valuable exactly as you are. You also know without any doubt that others will want the value you have to share. It’s this outward confidence that emanates from deep within and this unseen positive energy vibration that is attractive to others. It’s attractive because everybody recognizes it and wants to experience it too.

These individuals regardless of what they may have endured in life are naturally able to transform negative circumstances into positive. They display boldness, a willingness to stand out, of being totally comfortable with who they are. They are innovators, take risks and generously give of themselves and their value to others because they know that what they have to offer has value. They don’t have to try and do it, they know it and  just do it.

Does this mean if you’ve not displayed this kind of leadership till now that you never will?

No. I believe every single one of us can experience this however the older we get, the more difficult it becomes to break through self limiting beliefs because the habits have become entrenched like unerasable code.

It is possible to change your own inner self worth then? If we are to believe Mike Dillard’s personal story from  Magnetic Sponsoring then the answer to this is a resounding YES. He is without a doubt one of the most attractive leaders in this industry today and when you read his story, you will know that he was far from being a natural leader all his life. He did what he had to in order to become a leader.

Attraction Marketing is not about becoming an expert so you can share your expertise,  its about changing what you believe about yourself, claiming your value and becoming who you truly are so you can share yourself with others. You cannot truly value others or share value until you are totally aware of your own value. This is how you know what it is.

To become aware of your own value you first have to be honest with yourself about your possible lack of self worth. This you must do without blame or judgement. It means realizing and accepting that you have sold yourself short. It requires that you forgive yourself for allowing this to happen without your knowing. It requires taking a journey within that will call for courage and strength like you have never had to find before. If and when you realize how absolutely perfect and valuable you really are, then you will be able to celebrate this with every breath and in every moment, and you will have become totally attractive to yourself and to others around you.

In conclusion I believe attraction marketing can work for everyone but I know it doesn’t and it ‘s unlikely it will. The journey to this point for all of us is different. It’s the path less traveled, a lone journey that takes as long as it must take and not everybody has the desire, will, patience or courage to do whatever it takes. This is  fine too. Everybody is at the right point in their journey. For those that refuse to give up they will always find their way eventually. So can you.

I am aware that this has probably been an intense read. I make no apologies for it. It is what I believe. Of course you may differ but regardless of which I’d like to find out what you think so please leave me a comment. Also if you think others will derive value from reading this, please share it on your social networks too. Thank you.

My goal? Helping you achieve yours.

  1. Wow Marcus,

This is probably the best post I have read from you. Everything you said is so true. I feel like that too. Everybody always focuses on the “marketing” of attraction marketing, but rarely do they realize that the marketing is useless, unless you have the belief level in yourself to attract others to you. Amazing post & I will share it. Thank you for your leadership.

  2. Hi Marcus,

leadership is crucial. Attraction marketing will work for everyone who is willing to pay the price. The price is not money, it’s the comittment to invest time, effort and dedication it takes to become the person we need to be in order for us to be a leader and attract the right folks – intelligent followers with the desire to become leaders themselves.

Thanks for sharing your intense article !

  3. Hey Marcus,

I love that we both wrote about leadership today from two VERY different, and deep, angles. You’re right, we’ve got this topic covered for the day. ;)

You make some awesome points, those qualities are highly attractive AND they CAN be learned.

Interesting question about attraction marketing. I think it can certainly work for everyone, IF they have a big enough reason to make the changes required. It’s not natural for most people, but it is possible.

Making changes to our character and way of thinking is painful. First we have to admit that changes need to be made. Then we have to actually make them!

    Absolutely LOVE this post Marcus!

I appreciate your leadership and positive feedback Susanna!

  4. Marcus,

This was a truly awesome post. I made sure to take full advantage of sending this one out using Onlywire, so I can share it with everyone.

Attraction marketing has been funny to me. Using the MLSP attraction marketing system was not as joyful as expected in regards to Attraction Marketing.

I decided to take advantage of what I have learned and drop the system for now.

The first week without the system I generate 200+ leads. But the attraction of it all was sending people to my home business blog which helped me sign up four new prospect to my primary business.

I think there are pros and cons to attraction marketing. The way I look at it is to take the CONS and turn THEM into PROS.

So…my personal thinking goes back to your post. It wasn’t about a system or what I read in MS, it was my personal mindset. It was how I was able to improve myself and have a positive attitude. My prospects saw something and that is why my team is growing faster than it has ever grown.

    Thanks Marcus!

    Wow Tommy,

200+ leads without MLSP in your first week!! – Just goes to show that the decision you made was the right one for you.

You have to make things work for yourself and that does not mean doing what everybody else is doing because you are not everybody else. Awesome that you signed four new people into your primary too – well done. :)

You hit the nail on the head here. No system or book can do it for you, only you can change your mindset and when you do there is no turning back.

I am really happy for you Tommy. We may take around about way to get to where we must but as long as we don’t give up we will succeed.

  5. Very true, Marcus – creating a nice blog, writing a couple of articles does not make you a leader.

True leader displays a value that other people want to have. That value is usually not a skill of some sorts, but rather an attribute, a trait.

Attraction marketing does work, but it takes time and dedication.

    Hi Marcus,

Thanks for that interesting and profound post. I think you’ve brought the issue of the Attraction side of Attraction Marketing to it’s very core here, which as you say is intense!

Some people are natural leaders. Others have to do the work to become the Attractive Alpha leader. It can be a very challenging journey, but the rewards are clear, and I believe you’re right, available to anyone who is willing to do what it takes to claim them. But not everyone does. It’s all right, either way.

  7. Hi Marcus neat post! it’s such a popular topic of discussion by goal seeking entrepreneurs isn’t it? my last post covered similar ground and its interesting to see different perspectives.

One day someone will unravel the marvels of the infinitesimally small as studied by quantum physics and shed some light on how sub atomic particles can be in two places at the same time and attract and repel each other in a manner that defies explanation

Until then the law of attraction will be debated and pondered by the believers and non believers!

    Thanks for sharing

  8. Hey Marcus,

This is an amazing post! Attraction marketing will only work for those that want it to work.

What I see too often is people wishing for success. When the answer to achieve the success in attraction marketing is all about leading yourself. When you are able to lead yourself others will follow. Of course there is more to being able to lead yourself first. But that is where it starts!

  9. Hi Marcus,

Your post was very moving and thought provoking. I’ve been a girl scout leader for many years and there is no denying the point you make that some kids naturally have an ability to be comfortable standing out, being bold, and leading. While it’s our goal, to help all the girls realize their self worth, their strengths and gifts, by they time they reach middle school there is a definite division between the girls who naturally have these positive self images and the ones who do not.

I have found that for myself, my daughters, and my scouts, when we take the focus off of ourselves and focus on helping someone else, it naturally brings out our leadership strengths and helps us to increase the positive confident feelings we have for ourselves.

    Wonderful post!

The Scouting movement in all it’s forms has been on the forefront of helping young people find leadership within themselves for so many years now and I commend you for playing a pivotal role in this organization.

As an ex-school teacher, some of the best leaders I had the privilege of teaching came from the ranks of the Scouts. As you say one of the surest ways to connect with one’s own leadership potential is to be of service to others.

I was intrigued with Tommy’s comments.

I believe everyone has the potential to be a leader. Leadership can be learned, if one is willing.

For me Attraction Marketing is more than just sharing information or providing value, it comes down to whether or not I want to do business someone, or better yet whether someone wants to do business with me.

I believe when we have the right mindset we can do anything with whatever tools we have on hand.

I love how you called out if attraction marketing works for everyone. For me, I would say it doesn’t. However, there are different forms of using attraction marketing. I think what is key is that they are providing value to their people to raise them up.

I really enjoyed this post. So, thank you!!!

Of course there is still merit in providing value to one’s followers before you have realized your own inherent value. It’s this very process that sets one on the road to this realization should one accept the challenge. Until then one does somehow feel that something is missing and then ‘Wham’ when you ready it presents itself and everything makes perfect sense.

  14. Hi Marcus,

    Wow, what an awesome post!

You are so right, attraction marketing takes more than creating killer content and building online presence. And yes, it does take time to build a momentum in your business.

If you’re practising attraction marketing and not seeing significant results you need to do some “troubleshooting” and establish where you could be going wrong.

There are a number of factors that would need to be considered.

    Thanks for sharing your insights.

I like the point you make about time. It takes as long as it takes for us to become leaders because this is an internal unique journey.

One has to continue with learning about and implementing marketing which includes content marketing at the same time as this internal journey takes place until such time as our full leadership can blossom.

Often we think we need more marketing expertise but what one really needs is more time and work on oneself.

Gosh, I almost missed this. I thought I had already been here and left my comment.

Anyway, I had a talk about this very topic with my husband (on the way to the post office) not long ago. One point he brought up was that “leaders have charisma.” Something that “attracts” people (naturally) to them. This can be different for each one of us, but it’s something that other people want.

Have you ever noticed when some people enter a room, everyone’s eyes (and attention) are upon them? That’s what I’m talking about. Can that be learned? Gosh, I sure hope so.

    Great topic!

Yes why one person has that jeune se quois or “X factor” is a matter of charisma – I love that word too. Like you say it is a very individual appreciation too.

I think we all have it Ilka but it only shows when we are totally comfortable with who we are and we proudly allow ourselves to just be who we are through everything we do and say. Then one exudes this without even doing anything.

Can it be learned? Hmm maybe it simply has to do with learning who we really are and liking what we find?
