This is the title and topic of a video post created by Darren Rowse from ProBlogger.net, a blog that helps bloggers add income streams to their blogs.

I enjoy Darren’s work because he provides enormous value on his blog about a variety of related topics and even though he is a successful professional blogger he is still very down to earth.

He says, “Being good on social media really has a lot to do with being good in relationships and conversation” . This is exactly the skill set that we as network marketing Internet business owners must be be good at too.

In this video he explores some ideas about what it takes to be good at this which I think are very pertinent to us too.

Click on the image below and you will be taken directly to his post.

I’d love to get your feedback so please leave me a comment and also share this on your social networks if you found it valuable. Thank you.

Thanks Ryan. In this video he makes a lot of sense. I think we all agree with what he says but sometimes people get so carried away with the Internet that they forget the people factor!

  4. Hey Marcus

Thanks for sharing the video, but I could not help but notice a trend.

Some of the coolest, brightest guys out there seem to be lacking hair.

So much so I am thinking of starting the Bald Headed Marketing Group.

Now for all you poor guys out there with a full head of hair may I suggest an electric razor :)

  6. Hi Marcus,

That was a really great video.

I think it’s important because sometimes we can feel like we’re shooting in the dark. If we relate it to offline life, it’s really not much different. It’s the same concept, just applied in a different way.

Great stuff, thanks for passing it along!

    Hi Oliver,

Yes you raise an important question – how do become interesting? I guess the more we reveal of ourselves to others the more chance we have of being interesting to people, what do you or anybody else think?

    Hi Marcus,

that is true. The more we are aware of our strengths, gifts and talents, the more interesting we are to people. I would add.

    Take care

  9. Hey Marcus,

I love this one. It’s so important to be a great conversationalist no matter what social event that you’re in. I like what he said that you got to be interesting as well as interested. That says a lot when you’re trying to build a relationship.

One of the things I like to do is find out what hobbies they’re interested in and what they do for a living. This, for me, can end up in a 2 hour conversation lol.

    Thanks for sharing!!!

    Hello Moana,

Thanks for leaving your comment. The power of social media is indeed great but I think sometimes people actually miss connecting with people because they are too busy being caught up in the ‘hugeness’ of it.

  12. I’d have to agree with the analogy that social skills definitely help in the blogging world. Not only that but the writing skills can often fill in some of the gaps you wouldn’t get to see at a party. And once the spoken word is out you cannot retract it so writing does have it’s advantages. Encouraging people to reply develops a good relationship with your audience.

In a group atmosphere it’s easy to be inclusive of others with eyes and gestures and body language. Much harder to accomplish with the written word. In response to this article and Darren’s video I started a Facebook group today called Guest Bloggers Tribe. No idea how it will be viewed but the idea is to encourage that return input from the articles people write.

By inviting people to write an article based on one of your own I hope to demonstrate an appreciation I have for my audience. If I can find enough like minded people perhaps I can create a writers pool that brings additional traffic and comments to each others site.

So there you have my response to a well written article that has prompted action and inspired thought. Grateful to all of you as an audience unwilling or not :)

    Hi Dennis,

Thank you for your comment. I think a combination of strategy probably covers all bases best.

There are a few tribes around now so having a specific focus which differentiates one’s tribe is a good idea otherwise we once again end up with too much of the same thing.

I wish you well with the idea and pleased that you were inspired to take action. May I also suggest you contact Kimberly Castleberry on Facebook and tell her about your tribe as she is in the process of compiling a tribe directory and she would love to hear from you I am sure.
