I’d love you to leave comments at the end of posts whenever you feel loved to do so. In my opinion leaving comments is not just about getting back links to your own site but a real opportunity to network with myself and other bloggers who visit here.
To this end the following policy for having comments approved applies.
- Your comment MUST discuss the post topic specifically. Vague and “Great post” type topics will not be approved.
- I write back to all who have left comments and want to address you by name so please use your name and not just company names and keywords.
- Please get a Gravatar which is the photo of you that appears next to your comments. Not only is it in your best interests from a personal branding point of view but by having a photo you become ‘real person’ online. You can get one for free at http://en.gravatar.com If you leave a genuine comment without a Garvatar I will approve your comment but ask you in my reply to please get one.
- Comments with links in the copy will not be approved. The only links that are acceptable are ones that point to blogs. Comment Luv links are especially welcome but please note links to sales pages and static sites will be removed.
- This blog’s top supporters are acknowledged and appreciated at the end of every month. A widget to help me keep track of top supporters can be viewed in the side bar on my blog. Only those with Gravatars and real names qualify. See here for an example post – October in Review
Writing effective comments is an art that takes knowledge and experience. It is also an effective marketing strategy when you know what you are doing.
I have learned what makes a great comment and what doesn’t from commenting on many other blogs over time and also from reading comments on other blogs. I’ve decided to share what I have learned in an 11 page E-book which you can download for free here. Right click on the link and save to your computer.
Happy Commenting! I look forward to reading and replying to your comments too.
