JB Are You Part Of The MLM Industry Problem Or Solution?It does not matter how long you have been in the  MLM industry, if you have not yet been over to Betternetworker.com I suggest  you get on over there chop chop.

Headed up by the very lovable Jason Better pictured on the left, who besides being a character, quite  literally, is also an extremely successful network marketer. You will learn a great deal from him especially when it comes to the art of building relationships.

He also has an awesome blog where you will get to interact with a group of people  affectionately named by Tommy Depietro as “The Better Bunch”.

So yesterday I was over at Jasons’ as I am most days, reading his daily post, “Why You Should Quit MLM And Watch Avatar  (Again) Instead…” .  Next thing I knew I  was on the soap box, writing a comment that threatened to be longer then the post itself! You’ll have to read the post to find out why.

Jason’s return comment was that what I had written would make a ‘killer blog post’. Too right and why hadn’t I thought of that?

Well no  time like the present so here it is….

There’s a huge problem in the network marketing industry and you are either contributing to it or you are part of the solution.

Have you seen Avatar? At least heard about the blockbuster?  How easy do you think it was for James Cameron to make this movie?

OK let’s define “easy” as instant success with no obstacles to overcome.  If it was easy wouldn’t everybody be out there making “Avatars”?

The same is true of MLM.

There are some who do find it easier than others and some who do brilliantly soon after getting involved but there are many more who don’t. But why not?  Just about wherever I look I see and hear that MLM is easy.

Why do a lot of people outside this industry who I speak to regard it as the ‘overnight, instant millions promise that doesn’t deliver’?

Who’s responsible for creating this perception?

Often ‘the industry’ lures newbies in, takes their money and spits them out as perfect little ‘failure agents’ who then go on to spread the bad news wherever they go.

It seems the once bad reputation this industry had in the offline days has simply been replaced with a different bad reputation on the Internet.

It will only change when everybody (yeah right…) inside the industry stops telling everybody on the outside that it’s ‘easy’ just so they can see another name on their downline list and a few autoship dollars in their bank account.

What is easy to understand is why excuses abound.  Nobody likes to feel like an idiot, so when they fail the only way to help themselves not feel “bad” is to legitimize  their own failure by blaming that which they believe is responsible.

We tell them to stop whining and moaning and take responsibility but how can we expect them to take responsibility for something they never understood in the first place?

Of course it’s possible to be successful in this industry, as it is in any other industry. And fortunately it is simple but it’s not ‘easy’.

Most have to confront and overcome their own self limiting beliefs to begin with and if this was easy we’d all be bottling it and selling it. Then comes the practical skills and knowledge followed by a lot of hard work for as long as it takes to see the success.

We all have a responsibility in the MLM industry to help others understand this or else we are just part of the problem.

I’m often asked about the exact strategy I recommend for success in the network marketing industry so here it  is. I’m  sure what you are going to read here will not be the first time you have been given this exact advice. I sometimes think  people ask for this again and again hoping that somehow the strategy will change and the all the challenging bits will be left out. It’s just not going to happen so how much longer are you going to take to apply this?

Step 1: Create a vision

What is your number one reason for why you want to be in business as opposed to doing anything else? What will it give you that nothing else can? What’s your dream? This is fundamental to your success. When times are tough you will need this as a point of focus so that you can remind yourself why you are doing what you are, why you need to keep going and why the tough times will be worth it in the end. It’s no different to the trophy an athlete wants to win. Create your vision by describing what you want your life to look like. You can do this by writing it down, drawing, creating a collage of pictures or making a voice recording and then keep it nearby so you can refer to it when you need to.

Step 2: Become the person you must to achieve your goals

This is probably the most challenging step to master because most people either don’t understand how important it is and/or they just prefer to ignore it. The truth of the matter is you need to become a powerful leader and be able to manage your emotions when that little voice of self doubt raises its head as it will.
